|This list is
by no means comprehensive and if you find other suggestions by
all means let me know
them for inclusion here.
foremost, why not crib about 30 to 40 words together in say
"Word" to cut and paste in to your other adverts, this saves you
having to type it out each time.
To copy it in, when in Word press down "CTRL and A" together,
and to insert it's "CTRL and V". Do not forget to include your
unique web address in your advert.
First and foremost, you can advertise
free on my own classified board which is linked from
here if you wish to include a picture all you do is click on
the picture you like on your advert and it will give you an
address you can insert where it is requested, by example:
Here you will have to include the full
address exactly as it appears. If you place an advert, do set a
password, but not the same one as you use elsewhere as if you
ask me to alter it at all you will have to tell me it!
Next, a good place to try would be
Apollo Duck. There are thousands of boats on there (which
means you might get a bit "lost" in with a lot of others) and
you can advertise for free for six months, but you have to do it
all yourself and have limited space. BUT with your web address
you can direct people to your much more detailed advert on
here....so do not forget to include it!!
Much like Apollo Duck you could also try
Boat Shop where once again you can have a small advert for
free, and once again do not forget to include your web address!!
Finally in the section try
Boats and Outboards, where a 28 day web advert is free, and
once again do not forget to include your web address!!
Most of these adverts above are for
short periods, don't forget to keep a copy of your wording and
renew them after they expire.
A MUST is to advertise in
Towpath Talk, a free newspaper (or you can buy a
subscription and have it posted to you) where your advert is
FREE! Of course there is a limit of only a few words, 45 in this
case, so make sure you include your web address again!! The link
takes you directly to the form to fill in.
Whilst on the subject of printed
material you can also try both
Waterways World and
Canal Boat but these will both charge you, so make sure you
get a quote first, but if you go for minimal words in the
printed classifieds section (recommended) and include your boat
web address at least the potential is there for a potential
purchaser to see a lot more!
Also, don't forget
e-bay, but there a ten day
advert will cost, probably, £10 (correct 2012) with one picture,
make sure you select the 10 day option as the default is 7 days,
and the price is the same!
A slightly more obtuse one. In West
London there is Uxbridge Boat Centre, its a very busy yard used
by hundreds of local boaters every day. Right outside their door
is a "Newsagents Cards" type board where you can advertise up to
A4 for six pounds a month. You have to do the donkey work and
let your artistic juices flow, then pop it in an envelope with
some cash to UBC, Uxbridge Wharf, Waterloo Road, Uxbridge,
London, UB8 2QX.
There are a lot of boat dwellers in
this area, if your boat is aimed at the residential market this
option is strongly recommended.
The secret with all the free
adverts is to keep renewing them, so make a note in your diary
when they expire. It is a pain, but if you want to avoid having
to pay brokerage fees of £,000's you have to go that extra mile!
Remember USE YOUR
WEB ADDRESS off this web site.
